Willa McCaffrey-Noviss, Registered Psychotherapist (RP)

I am a Registered Psychotherapist (#11507) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. I hold a Master of Education in Counselling Psychology from the University of Toronto (2022) and an Honours Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Mount Allison University (2017), including two years of research in hospice palliative care. I have eight years of experience working in mental health both internationally and across Canada, in various settings including frontline crisis response, private practice, and community agencies. I have largely worked in areas of sex therapy; couples therapy; issues relating to relationship and attachment; life transitions; aging, death and dying; addictions; sexual assault response and trauma recovery; depression; suicidal and self-harming behaviours; and support for adults with developmental disabilities.

Therapeutic Approach

I approach each person with positive regard and empathy as well as a genuine desire to understand your current struggles, areas distress, and personal strengths and resources. I am trained in modalities and techniques that have been developed to alleviate present pain points and also possess a willingness to engage in deeper explorative work, including that of past experiences and traumas as well as unconscious motivations and workings. I have a particular passion for working with distress related to life transitions and sex, sexuality and intimacy issues, with individuals, couples, and polyamorous constellations of all genders and sexualities to foster and support relational satisfaction.

My therapeutic orientation is rooted in Jungian and Rogerian psychology as well as the ideas of Nancy McWilliams.
